Opening hours

The Kaiserpfalz Archaeological Zone (AZK) is freely accessible at all times, as the individual monuments are located in a residential area. Some presentation areas can be visited in full every day during the following opening hours:

Opening hours: Outdoor areas of the Kaiserpfalz monuments (Aula regia, Heidesheimer Tor)

April-October: Mon from 10am-4pm 
Tue-Thu from 10am-5pm
Fri-Sun and on public holidays from 10am-6pm

November-March: daily from 10am-4pm

Most of the presentation areas in the Kaiserpfalz area are barrier-free. The warm air heating and Jewish cemetery area are closed for safety reasons and due to urgently needed renovation work.

Opening hours: Visitor centre and museum at the Kaiserpfalz

April-October: Tue-Thu 10am-5pm, Fri-Sun and on public holidays 10am-6pm

November-March: Tue-Sun and on public holidays 10am-4pm

The visitor centre and museum at the Kaiserpfalz, the Saalkirche church and the theme house in the Heidesheimer Tor monument area are closed on Mondays.

The Saalkirche church is open on Sundays from 11.30 am from April to October.

The visitor centre and museum at the Kaiserpfalz is closed between 23 December and 5 January.

How to find us

The Kaiserpfalz Ingelheim is located in the Nieder-Ingelheim district in the Kaiserpfalz Archaeological Zone (AZK). Local residents usually refer to the AZK as the Saalgebiet.

Travelling by car

Motorway A 60, exit Ingelheim Ost. From the entrance to Ingelheim Ost, follow the brown signs to „Kaiserpfalz“. There are two car parks with free visitor parking spaces at the destination. In the car park in Natalie-von-Harder-Straße there is an information point for initial orientation and a public toilet. Another car park is located in Gertrudenstraße/Mainzer Straße.

Travelling by public transport

The Kaiserpfalz Archaeological Zone is about a 25-minute walk from Ingelheim railway station. Walk along the pedestrian zone (Bahnhofstraße) for approx. 200 metres to the junction of Bahnhofstraße and Binger Straße. Then turn left into Binger Straße and follow it until you reach François-Lachenal-Platz with the Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) after approx. 1.2 kilometres.

From Ingelheim railway station, you can also take buses 56, 80 or 611 to the François-Lachenal-Platz stop.
